Tracy, a native of High Point, North Carolina, is the eldest of three siblings born to James and Ida Howell. Raised in a small and tight-knit family, Tracy has always valued family bonds, and even more now that she has an increased understanding of “family” – that any group of people who love, care for and respect each other may be considered family. 

An avid reader and advocate of lifelong learning, Tracy promotes education as a key to annihilating the atrocities of discrimination, hate and violence that plague marginalized members of our society. Tracy is founder and executive director of Safe Zone High Point, a new LGBTQ community center (High Point’s first dedicated LGBTQ resource) emphasizing education as a means to ensure all residents experience safety and a sense of community and belonging.
