“Justice is about making sure that being polite is not the same thing as being quiet. In fact, often times, the most righteous thing you can do is shake the table.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Greetings, Wholy Grounders!
There are times when women reflect on whether, we will take action on a certain situation or if we will just let the situation fix itself without our participation. Many of us are tired-physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Many factors come to mind as we create a comfortable space for us and a balance of how much disruption we are comfortable creating.
There are rights such as the right to live free from violence, slavery, and discrimination; to be educated; to own property; to vote, and to earn a fair and equal wage. These are human rights. Women are entitled to all these rights. Yet almost everywhere around the world, women and girls are still denied them, often simply because of their gender.
“White Christian Nationalism” is a term used to describe the ideology of so-called Christians who work to uphold white supremacist policies: policies that exploit the poor, deny justice to the disadvantaged, and disenfranchised, marginalized people from the voting processes, healthcare systems, and legal statuses that can protect and empower them. It is because of this systemic oppression that people’s reproductive rights have been compromised.
Reproductive rights are the rights of individuals to decide whether to reproduce and have reproductive health. This may include an individual’s right to plan a family, terminate a pregnancy, use contraceptives, learn about sex education in public schools, and gain access to reproductive health services.
Justice will prevail even in spaces that are hyper-masculine and reflect white nationalism. Justice is preserving your energy when you feel it is necessary to use it. Justice is sleeping to recharge for the next worthy cause. Justice is speaking, writing, singing, and using creativity to express your passion. Justice is shaking the table using the healthiest expression for you.
